Braiding Bonds

Braidng Bonds, 2026, Acrylic on canvas, 80 x 80 cm

Braiding Bonds, is inspired by Gond art, a deeply familiar domestic moment unfolds—one woman gently braiding another’s hair. The act itself is ordinary, rooted in everyday life across Indian households, yet here it becomes a powerful metaphor for emotional care, patience, and unspoken understanding.

The composition is carefully balanced between stillness and movement. The seated figure, turned slightly inward, holds a mirror—but notably, her gaze is soft and distant. She is present, yet withdrawn, suggesting introspection or emotional detachment. Her posture feels closed, almost protective, reinforcing the idea of someone caught in their own thoughts—perhaps in the aftermath of heartbreak.

Behind her, the second figure is composed, steady, and attentive. Her body leans in just enough to signal care without intrusion. The precision of her hands as they braid the hair reflects quiet persistence—the kind required when offering support that may not be immediately received. She does not demand attention; she simply remains.

  • The Braid
The central motif is more than a hairstyle—it becomes a visual metaphor for untangling emotional knots. Each strand brought together suggests effort, repetition, and time. The braid is not rushed; it is built slowly, much like healing.
  • The Mirror
The mirror introduces an important psychological layer. Rather than clarity, it reflects ambiguity. It hints at self-perception clouded by emotion—seeing, but not fully understanding. It reinforces the idea that heartbreak often distorts one’s inner dialogue.
  • The Squirrel
Positioned subtly, the squirrel looking away adds a poignant note. It suggests distraction, avoidance, or emotional withdrawal. It may echo the inner state of the distressed figure—turning away from reality—or represent the gradual shift of attention away from pain.
  • The Birds and Vines
The flowing, rhythmic vines and stylized birds create a sense of continuity and life. Their movement contrasts with the stillness of the figures, suggesting that while the individual feels stuck, the world—and time—continues to move. The organic patterns also mirror the complexity of emotions—winding, looping, and interconnected.
  • Color and Pattern
The rich palette—deep blues, purples, greens, and warm ochres—creates both harmony and contrast. The background feels immersive, almost enveloping, like the emotional landscape surrounding the figures. Intricate patterns fill every surface, a hallmark of the style, but also symbolic of layered thoughts and feelings.
The helper’s attire, with its structured and repeating motifs, feels grounded and stable, while the seated figure’s patterns feel slightly softer and more fluid, enhancing their emotional contrast.
  • Objects on the Floor
The comb placed below is a quiet but powerful detail—it represents the beginning of the process, the initial act of trying to smooth out tangles. Left aside, it suggests that what remains now is deeper work—something more intricate than surface-level care.

At its heart, ‘Braiding Bonds’ speaks about the endurance of friendship. It acknowledges a difficult truth: that helping someone through heartbreak is often a slow, repetitive act, where words fail and progress is invisible. The person in pain may not respond, may not even fully see the effort—but the friend continues nonetheless.

I have tried not to dramatize the moment by no overt expression of grief or consolation. Instead, everything is contained within gesture, posture, and pattern. The care is quiet. The resistance is quiet. The healing, too, is quiet.

Bridal Henna

Bridal Henna, 2025, Acrylic on canvas, 80x80cm

Bridal Henna captures the intimate and celebratory moment of a bride being adorned with henna, a significant ritual in many Indian wedding traditions. The painting reflects the joy, anticipation, and cultural richness surrounding this ceremony, where intricate patterns symbolize beauty, prosperity, and auspicious beginnings.

Through the use of traditional Indian folk art elements—such as detailed motifs, rhythmic patterns, and vibrant colors—I try to bring the scene to life while preserving its cultural authenticity. The composition often emphasizes harmony and storytelling, with figures and decorative elements working together to convey both the emotional and symbolic depth of the occasion.

At its core, Bridal Henna is not just a depiction of a wedding ritual but a celebration of heritage. It highlights the importance of preserving these customs and invites viewers, especially those unfamiliar with Indian traditions, to appreciate the meaning and artistry behind them.

Had a very enriching experience last week in my favorite city of Maastricht in Netherlands. The third weekend of October was Maastricht Gallery Weekend. 22 galleries opened their doors to art lovers from the Netherlands and abroad. The event kicked off with a festive opening night on Friday, October 17th at 6:00 PM, with each participating gallery hosting a special activity such as a vernissage, artist talk, workshop, or live music. All locations was opened on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The overwhelming number of visitors who came to see our exhibition was unprecedented. I was representing German artists from Germany along with my Schloss Zweibrüggen colleagues Michael Zöpfel, Hans Krämer, Renate Magrean, Nathalie Oedekoven, Gisela Rabstein, Zoe Coi, Reni Scholz and Maike Kremer. Chai-time

Chai-time, 2025, Acrylic on canvas, 120x160cm

In my new painting Chai-time ☕️, I have tried to showcase the rural world, which still has a beautiful balance traditional cultures and has adapted the modern technology with elan, specially the empowered women. This is a sweet moment where a group of Rajasthani village women in traditional attire are having a chit-chat time over tea, some enjoying social media over mobile phone and another one unbothered doing her embroidery work.

As in this week we are celebrating International Women’s Day, and my paintings are usually an ode to strong Indian women. I proudly present and dedicate this painting to all strong, progressive and liberated women all across the globe. 🙏🏼🥰👸🏻🌎

In Marbella – Ethereal Beauty: A Celebration of Feminine Grace

Art Exhibition, Marbella, Spain

I am really honoured to be a part of this iconic exhibition hosted by The Fusion Art Gallery in Marbella, Malaga, Spain. This exclusive art exhibition is honoring the elegance, strength, and essence of femininity in this week of International Women’s Day. Over 80 breathtaking artworks from international artists is being showcased in this legendary Villa El Martinete, Marbella, once home to flamenco icon Antonio „El Bailarín“ Ruiz and tied to Pablo Picasso himself.

The moment I saw the theme Ethereal Beauty: A celebration of feminine grace, I knew that my Rajasthani SIsters fitted perfectly and i was readily selected to be a part of this group exhibition. The Villa El Martinete is breathtaking piece of art itself with each room tastefully interior designed and decorated with exquisite furnitures. It was a delight to be guided along the entire Villa by the owner of The Fusion Art Gallery, Johann Grundin himself.

Some impasto

Time Square and Ponte de pidade

Times Square 2024, 60x50cm and Ponta de piedade, 50 x 40cm both in Acrylic impasto technique.

My travel series in which I bring my memories of the cities I have travelled to. Was always in my bucket list to cover all the destinations I have been so far, though difficult to manage alongside my Indian folk art series😊. Much evidently I am in love with the thick paint impasto technique which allows perfect Impressionism. Travel series is also a part of my cool down process. Important is to just keep up working, take a break, explore, refresh and then pick up your brush. 🎨🖼️

Kindheitstraum – Childhood dream

I feel very honored to share this news that in 2024, I was the chosen artist for The Charity Party e.V. whose painting was to be won by one lucky winner amongst all the tickets being sold for fundraiser.

Very proud that this painting ‚Kindheitstraum’ (Childhood dream) helped in fundraiser for a very noble cause. Congratulations to the lucky winner Fr. Elizabeth Wagels 💐🤗.

Many thanks to all the guests who bought the tickets to support this charitable trust. And a huge thank you to this amazing organisation, who has been doing wonderful work for past 14 years for under-privileged children, for such a great memorable evening 🙏🏼❤️

I have been closely following The Charity Party e.V. yearly activities they take part in and particularly when I got to know that they had sponsored a trip for kids who have never seen an ocean before in their lives, and when I read what they said thereafter, it moved me and that’s how ‘Kindheitstraum’ (Childhood dream) was conceptualized.

Sharing some of the lines said by the kids 🥹 –
“I didn’t know that water could be so beautiful.”
“We can’t afford it. That’s why I’m collecting lots of shells and making a picture frame out of them with my mom.”
“The sand is soooo soft. You can just lie down in it.”
“Now a childhood dream of mine has come true.”
“That was big water.”
